How are you going with your 30-Day Challenge so far? Can you believe that we are into our fourth week of the Challenge? Time flies! I hope you are going well and finding it easier day by day. Remember, we are after small, doable actions every day for 30 days, not big, far-fetched ones that seem to be the norm of New Year’s Resolutions.
Before we go on, here is the announcement you’ve been waiting for – the PRIZES! For those of you who have completed your 30-Day Challenge by the end of January, I’m offering one free 50-Minute Coaching Call to help you achieve your goals in 2018 (my current rate is $150 for a 60-minute session). I’m offering this prize to three lucky persons, on a first come, first served basis. More details on how to claim your prize next week.
Now back to the 30-Day Challenge itself. Here are a few more tips from my own experience to help you make your own challenge or challenges stick:
- Keep it simple: I can’t stress this enough. so I’ll say it again here. Make it easy for yourself to succeed. For example, my challenge was to write for 20 minutes a day. I wasn’t counting the number of words I wrote, or how brilliant they were (far from it!), so I didn’t feel the pressure to perform. All I had to do was to put my butt in the seat every day and write for 20 minutes. That’s it.
- Flexibility + determination: Being a new mum, I had to work around my baby’s schedule, so I ended up writing while she napped, whenever it might have be during the day. At the same time, I had a plan B to make sure I did my challenge no matter what. If for some reason I didn’t get to write during the day, I would write after she went to bed at night. This meant I found myself on quite a few occasions writing late at night.
- A growth mindset: It’s important to think: “I’ll try this and see if it works. If it doesn’t, I’ll learn the lessons and try something else until it does.” Don’t let negative self-talk or excuses – “I’m just not self-disciplined enough”, “I don’t have the time”, or “I’m too tired” (my personal favourite as a sleep-deprived new mum) stop you from completing your challenge.
Next week we will wrap up our 30-Day Challenge – including how to claim your prize if you complete it by the end of January, and we will announce what’s in store for February. You are nearly there – keep up the good work!
