How are you going with your 30-Day Challenge so far? Did you manage to stick with it for the last seven days? If you did, well done! Don’t forget to celebrate your small successes, and then keep going.
If you didn’t, it’s ok. Don’t beat yourself up. Instead, take a minute to think about how you could make it stick: Was the challenge small enough? Did you set aside a regular time each day to make it happen? Did you really want it, or was it one of those things that you thought you should do?
Again, going back to what I said last week, we are going for easy, doable and specific actions, not big, bold goals. There is a place and time for that and it’s not what this 30-Day Challenge is about. Also, it might sound basic, but many people don’t set aside time – let alone a regular time each day – to work on what they want to achieve. They try to wing it, not realising that we all have a pretty full plate these days, so in order to put anything new on our plate, we need to clear some space first.
Finally, motivation is important. If you can find some enjoyment or meaning with your challenge, you have a much better chance at sticking with it than giving up. Ditch the things you think you should do, and go for what you really want and will bring you more joy or purpose into your life. Once you’ve tweaked your challenge, just get back right to it.
So how did I go with my 30-Day Challenge last week? Well, it went well for the first 6 days, then I fell off the wagon on the last day. During my review process, I realised that during the week I had a pretty regular schedule so I was able to meditate early in the morning. However, we had an early outing on Sunday morning, and I completely forgot to do my meditation! To make sure that doesn’t happen again, I’ve set an alarm on my phone to remind me to meditate on weekends.
Keep up the good work and I will check in with you again next week!
P.S. I’m trying to keep these posts short, so I didn’t get to talk about the two life-changing 30-Day Challenges that I completed last year. I will share them with you next week.
