How did you go with your 30-Day Challenge last week? If you aced it, congratulations! If not, don’t despair. It’s normal to fall off the wagon from time to time. The important thing is get back on the wagon as soon as possible. If you skipped a day, make sure you don’t skip a second day. And if you skipped two or more days in a row, pause and review your challenge again by asking the questions I suggested last week. Tweak anything you need to tweak and start again.
To help you keep on track, I have decided to offer a PRIZE to those of you who complete the Challenge by the end of January! But more about that next week.
Now, as promised, I’ll share with you the two life-changing 30-day challenges I completed last year. In September I started a 30-day challenge on journalling. I’ve been meaning to journal for ages but I had never been able to do it consistently. So finally I decided I really wanted it, especially with my new baby – I wanted to capture all the precious moments with her. I came up with a very simple rule – journal 20 minutes a day for 30 days – which was very doable and didn’t feel scary to me at all. To my pleasant surprise, I was able to journal every single day for 30 days!
Riding on the confidence boost and the momentum gained from this first 30-day challenge, I decided I would do another 30-day challenge in October. This time, on writing. Reading was my first love, and I’ve always wanted to write a book for as long as I can remember. After turning 40 last year, I thought if not now, when? I couldn’t afford to wait any longer. Again, the rule was simple, write for 20 minutes a day for 30 days. And I completed the challenge. So I extended it to November and December, making it into a quarterly challenge.
I’m happy to report that it’s now January, and I’m still journalling and writing daily. I’ve written over 30,000 words. I have a good feeling about both of them and I think I might be able to stick with them for a long time to come.
Next week I’ll check in with you again on your progress with the 30-Day Challenge. And I will also announce the prize I am offering for those of you who complete the Challenge by the end of January. Have fun!
